For the love of music.......

As we quickly approach the one and a half month mark and when we call home (on the rare occasion sober) one of the things often asked is what do Mike and I miss the most. Besides our niece Teaghan and for Mike, Jackson’s steaks we would have to say in one word – Music.

For Singaporeans there seems to be a strong love for the 80’s rock ballads and early 90’s rock (Michelle and Lindsay B the two of you would be in heaven), this infatuation may be the primary reason why Karaoke is so popular here. Seriously its like walking through a weird time warp, where Bryan Adams is seen as king and Deep Purple sells out stadiums. It is not uncommon to walk down a grocery aisle and see one of the stock guys singing “Step by Step” by the New Kids on the Block, or to jump into a cab and be told by the cab why he is “so lost with out you”.

Now I’m sure somewhere in Singapore there has to be souce for good music, and granted besides flipping though the radio only to find our alternative choice is Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake I will admit neither Mike nor I have tried to hard

So the question of the week is – What is good on the music scene? Songs………Bands………CD’s Please sends us recommendations – with the exception of poppy crap we like it all.

Much Appreciated

Risha

  1. If you need your kick of Canadian indie music (and who doesn't?), check out cbc.radio3.com. You can live stream on there, search musicians and make playlists, and there are also great new Canadian music podcasts. It's where I get most of my music...
